The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Shampoo & Hair Butter Review

Monday 2 August 2010

Hey Ladies,

On Friday I got a lovely package delivered to my work from The Body Shop containing the new moisture range from the new Rainforest Hair Care range. The range was designed to be eco friendly so by the time the water you washed your hair with gets to the ocean, there is no trace of the product released into the environment. I was very interested in trying whether the effectiveness of the products was sacrificed so the formulation of the product could achieve the eco friendly label.

Rainforest Moisture Shampoo

What they say;
'Gently cleanses to help restore moisture and improve the hair’s softness without weighing it down, for a smooth and shiny finish. With pracaxi oil, manketti nut oil and Community Trade honey and sugar. No silicones, sulphates, parabens or colourants. For dry and damaged hair.'

What I say;
First of all I love the smell, to me I don't pick up on the honey (which I hate the smell of) I can just smell a sweet floral scent that is a delight to wash my hair with. Although at The Body Shop event they told me you have to lather this shampoo up in your hands first, I didn't bother, far too lazy & it worked perfectly fine! As for the moisturising factor, I think it pretty much does what it should, after using it just on its own with no conditioner my hair brushed easily when wet, I normally need a leave in conditioner for it to be easy. So I'm impressed.

Normally The Body Shop recommendations go down hill once I talk about the price, for once I think this is a reasonably priced range, the shampoo is £4 for 250ml or £6 for 400ml which is a decent price so thumbs up on this!

Would I buy it myself is always the big question & my answer? Yes I actually would. I think whilst it may not be a moisturising (I really don't think any shampoo can actually moisturise) & think of it as none drying, so any conditioners you apply to the hair will be maintained during the week (I only condition my hair once a week)

Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter

What They Say;

'Luxuriously rich and intensive deep-conditioning treatment for soft, glossy and tangle-free hair. With pracaxi oil, manketti nut oil and Community Trade honey and olive oil. No silicones, parabens or colourants. Use weekly or as required. For dry and damaged hair.'

What I Say;
This smells amazing! That was my first impression, it's nice & thick which I prefer in a hair butter (obviously all psychological) As for the formulation, it's a lovely, it really thoroughly conditions the hair & leaves it feeling soft & looking shiny & smelling fantastic in the process! A pleasure to use & washes out very nicely which is a pain in the arse with deep conditioners!

The price?
Again very reasonable, a 50ml pot is £3 (for travels or to try) or 200ml is £8. You don't need loads so it will last you a while as well.

Would I Buy Myself? Definitely, I love deep conditioners as this is the only conditioning I do so this is bound to be a favourite.

So overall I'm impressed & can say the products haven't suffered from the eagerness of The Body Shop to make the formulations eco friendly. I'm giving you a pat on the back The Body Shop, its a rare event so enjoy it!

Thanks for reading & let me know if you've got any questions. The Body Shop are currently have an offer on the range, if you buy one you get one half price. Hope your Monday wasn't as bad as mine :)

  1. These sound really good, especialy if you cant really smell the honey #gross I know I'm a pain but as I think you know this by now I'm sure you won't mind...do either of the conditioners have lanolin in them? Can't remember whether body shop are just vegetarian rather than vegan.
