Max Factor Ageless Elixir Foundation Review

Sunday 9 October 2011

Hey ladies,

As you all know by now I love trying new foundations & the new offering from Max Factor I couldn't wait to try when I was offered to test it out.

'Ageless Elixir foundation simultaneously helps to protect against the ageing effects of the sun, keeping skin moisturised and protected to help you look and feel your best.'

First of all the shade (beige 55) is pretty much perfect for my NC25ish skin, I find it practically impossible to match myself in Boots or Superdrug & so was pleased when this was spot on.

Secondly this foundation blends like a dream I'm assuming the serum has something to do with this because it is seriously effortless which makes getting ready in the morning super quick. Major brownie points for that.

In terms of formula it's a little strange, I would class it as a liquid but it's quite a solid mousse like liquid if that makes sense. Oh it doesn't? Well pop into Boots & try it out, you'll know what I mean. This means that with it's handy pump it's not messy in the slightest! Me likes!!

Now this isn't one for oily skin, the serum within the foundation is aimed at ageing skin so moisturises, meaning if you have oily skin I'd avoid it, if you have normal to dry skin it is perfect for the fast approaching winter weather as it is designed to protect your skin against ageing as well as keep it in good condition. Have I seen a difference in my skin since using it? No but I am 24 so the full benefits won't really be apparent to me. My skin didn't react with it which can happen to some when skin care is incorporated into foundations so if Nars Sheer Glow broke you out this could do the same.

It describes itself as a full coverage foundation but take this with a pinch of salt, I'd consider it medium as there are foundations that define the meaning of full coverage (Illamasqua rich liquid I'm looking at you!) This just gives you a nice medium coverage with a velvet finish not quite matte not quite luminous just makes your skin looks lovely.

At £12.99 it is a bit pricey for a high street brand but they all seem to be heading further up the price scale these days so it's not silly expensive. I'd definitely pay for it.

I'm trying to think of any negatives ... I really can't see many. The shade range isn't amazing & matching yourself can be a nightmare & thanks to this countries crappy return policy if you make the wrong choice you're stuck with it.

To sum it up I've worn it everyday since I got it & I have about 20 foundations to pick from. Says it all really!!

  1. I have the Ageless Elixir Foundation as well and I love, love it! The smell, the texture, the finish, etc. Even though I have normal to oily skin, I haven't noticed any oiliness or breakouts.. It's my new favourite foundation!
