Mac Semi-Precious Bushes: What The Eff?

Hey Ladies,

Tonight I saw the new brushes Mac are releasing in the Semi-Precious collection & just had to share my thoughts on them.

179 Angled Split Fibre Buffer Brush

128 Split Fibre Cheek Brush

234 Split Fibre Eye Blending Brush

235 Split Fibre All Over Eye Brush

Basically they all have one side natural bristle and one side synthetic, under the presumption that natural brushes are best for powder products and synthetic brushes best for liquid & cream products

First of all I think they look incredibly odd like the frankenstein of brushes and secondly I can't see any of them getting any use on a regular basis except perhaps the 235 which would be good for using my beloved Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows with the synthetic side & then going over with an eyeshadow with the natural bristle side.

When I initially saw the 128 brush it looked lovely & just my kind of brush natural bristle side up that is (& very much like my coveted Shu Uemura foundation brush) I was definitely making a mental purchase until I saw the very familiar traditional foundation brush synthetic side.

So what do you think they will be like? A jack of all trades, master of nothing is my feelings but I am waiting to be proven wrong.

NOTD: The Only Way I Wear A Crackle Polish

Hey Ladies,

Thought i'd show you how I wear crackle nail polish even though I rarely do, I think it just looks scruffy most of the time but when done right I think it looks like some nail art.

Basically I think it looks like nail art when worn as an accent nail! Otherwise you look like you've got major chipping occurring. I used a thick layer of the Barry M Black crackle & then once it had done its thing popped a top coat over it (I detest matte nails). Oh & the base shade is Essie Haute As Hello.

I love the contrast between the almost neon pastel pinky/coral & the black & like I said as an accent nail it looks intentional instead of scruffy!!

Hope you're all having a lovely week so far, I have been loving the weather & had a rather long walk (7 miles) today which was lovely & I am now pooped!! (it was gorgeous where I was but I heard horrible down south!! In yo' face!!) Oh & remember to watch my haul videos I posted on Youtube here & here (i had to split it into two!)

Sleek MakeUP's Answer To The Urban Decay Naked Palette

Hey Ladies,
Rarely does an item turn up on my door mat unexpectedly & i'm blogging about it 2 minutes later but this needs to be shared!!
Sleek MakeUP have released a new palette & it is FINALLY one I can shout from the rooftops that I love & will use!! Because it's Neutral...ish!!

P1020712

P1020711
P1020709
Flash on
P1020710
Flash off
Isn't it beautiful!! First of all the packaging is really lovely but I wish they'd used it on the actual palette too but you can't have everything, the thing that matters is the shades are lovely & most of them wearable which I personally find their palettes aren't in general for me. It has everything from matte neutrals to more night timey eg the blackend purple (top row sixth along) so it has everything you'd need! I have definitely found my travelling palette!!

There are a few dupes for some Naked Palette shades as well mainly the roseish gold (top row second along) the bronze (fourth along) & the very neutral shade (bottom row third along)

All in all a great release from Sleek MakeUP which should be out next week (It says immediate release on the press release but it's not on the site yet so i'd guess at it being available on Monday) By the way there is another neutral lovers palette out in September as well so keep your eyes peeled for that!

If anyone would like a video on how I would wear some of the shades let me know! Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!!

OOTD: Palazzo Trousers

Hey Ladies,

I spent today trying on approximately 50 pairs of trousers, as I was going out for a meal with a couple of friends I kind of wanted to get some patterned hareem trousers alas the pair I loved only had them in a larger size that were way to baggy so I settled for some palazzo trousers which are 'so hot right now' (said in a Mugatu from Zoolander voice),

Sorry for the rubbish pictures, my makeup was basically big lashes & polished skin so not much point telling you what I used.

Outfit
Vest - Topshop
Trousers - New Look (come with the belt)
Necklace - River Island
Bracelets - Primark

As for my hair I blow dried it straight & then put it into a bun whilst doing my makeup & it ended up with the wave to it.

Hope you all are welcoming the weekend, I am still stuffed from my dinner!!

Discount Luxury Fashion

Hey Ladies,

Fancy some discount Vivienne Westwood, Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen & other top designer brands? Well let me introduce you to Cocosa from Bauer Media, launched in 2008 the invitation-only fashion retailer offer members exclusive access to private sales from luxury brands each, with each sale running for a limited period with prices only fashion insiders have previously enjoyed.

It would be rude to say no to this outfit, it is wedding season afterall!
All you need to do is register on Cocosa here and you can get £10 off your first order over £50 using the code luxurystyle when you're going through the checkout process.

Not only do you get access to the current 'live' sales you can preview upcoming sales so you know when to be at your computer if there's an item you have to have and it includes the price which I like, there's nothing worse than seeing an item you are yearning for and then discovering the price isn't what you'd hoped it to be!

I have shopped with Cocosa a few times & their service is excellent, I mainly buy jewellery as it's always got great discount and so is totally affordable so an easy treat for yourself to spice up a simple outfit. If you're looking for an investment piece it's also excellent because you get it at a cheaper price than you were willing to pay for in the first place, so you're technically saving money by purchasing said item (girly maths at it's finest!). Unlike other discount retailers the stock is selected by a team of buyers so everything is on trend and nothing is out of season so you don't have to wait to wear it.

I hope you'll check the site out & let me know if you get anything, I am eyeing up a few jewellery pieces so you may see them in a haul video soon!!

Repair Series: John Frieda Miraculous Recovery Masque

Hey ladies,

Carrying on with my repair series I have an offering from John Frieda today.

John Frieda Miraculous Recover Mask RRP 589 W450 ID John Frieda

They Say:

'John Frieda Frizz - Ease Miraculous Recovery Pot Strengthening Crème Masque is a rich anti - breakage nourishing crème for damaged hair caused by excess heat styling.'

First of all the consistency of this is quite thin so spreads easily in the hair and it smells very nice which most masques do. It works nicely making the hair more manageable and after using it your hair feels nice and soft and in good condition, it's not the most intense conditioner but if you've overdone the straighteners sightly it will help lessen the damage.

Overall I really like this product my only problem with it I have is that you get slightly mislead in terms of how much you get, the tub looks like you get loads but once you open the lid you realise that all isn't what it seems, it's like a pot within a pot. You still get a good 150mls for around £6 which is good but I have to say you use loads so I only have gotten 3 treatments from a tub.

Best for people with not much hair & have been over doing it with the straighteners!

Hope you're all having a lovely weeks so far. Remember to enter my Paul Mitchell giveaway!!

Summer Trends From Simply Be

Hey Ladies,

Well we're supposed to be in the summer months now (someone forgot to tell the weather) so I thought I'd share with you the summer trends that are going to take you through to the Autumn that are accessible from sizes 10 through to size 28 from Simply Be.

Colour Blocking
Such a great trend to wear for the summer, the ultimate statement to grab all the attention & is completely effortless.  I love this striped piece, it calls itself a top but if you have a good pair of pins & a tan this would be a lovely dress when you're on holiday, I personally would pair it with some black leggings,  a pair of sandals and a black leather belt & jacket perfect for casual days with friends or the kids.

Palazzo Trousers
The 70's are officially back this summer and these trousers are everywhere, they are so stylish & flattering for women who's problem area is their legs, pair it with a simple white tank top & long gold necklace, curly hair & you're ready to party.

Fruit Patterns
I love patterns in fashion, they can add such life and colour to a simple piece and make them instantly  fun and young. This dress is gorgeous with the pineapple print, a great length to flatter most ages and sizes as well as the tops of the arms covered which I don't like showing off. It would be a great dress for the office as well as a meal with the other half with a few added accessories.

I think Simply Be do some really great Trendy Dresses and in such a great size range, I didn't realise they had started selling smaller sized dresses which makes it more accessible for all sizes. Totally love this & this they would be amazing for a holiday if I was going on one! Plus if you're a new customer you get 20% off (using the code 3505) plus free shipping & returns, I could spend a fortune!

Repair Series: Dove Intensive Repair

Hey Ladies,

Kicking off my hair repair series today I'm showing you a fairly cheap hair treatment.

Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair
'Dove intensive repair conditioner contains Micro Moisture Serum and Fibre Actives which intensely nourishes and seals lifted cuticles to protect against future damage'

I actually got a sample of this in an Asos package, it was a decent 50ml size so I got to try it a couple of times and It's actually really good. I noticed a difference in the smoothness of my hair immediately, it's not too thick so spreads through the hair easily and washes out quickly meaning it's good for everyday use. Dove recommend it being left in the hair for 1 minute so it is a quick treatment plus its fairly cheap so using it everyday wont break the bank.

It costs around £3.50 for 180mls

Best for - Cash strapped & everyday use

Remember to enter my Paul Mitchell giveaway which is running alongside my repair series!!

100 Years of Nivea

Hey Ladies,

Ever feel like friends are live savers? Well studies have shown that being close to people have health benefits including healthier hearts (added red wine?) , lower risk of cancer (feeling each others boobies whilst drunk, no? just me & my friends then!) and better mental health (completely can confirm the last one myself, friend save us from mental break downs in the office, in the pub, in the kitchen all the time) The reasons for this is thought to be that lonely people are more likely to smoke and drink to deal with problems, and they miss out on boost we all get from friends when we've had a fake tan disaster or hair cut horror which can lead to lack of exercise and unhealthy eating as well as added stress from not having anybody to let out their worries to which causes premature ageing as well. Are you sat there appreciating your friends even more than before?

NIVEA commissioned research by psychologist Professor Geoff Beattie to measure the closeness of today and the results showed that we're closer than ever to our friends and families. So with all they do for us in mind, NIVEA are encouraging us all to value our relationships so asking you all to take part in their A million moments of closeness campaign, you just have to upload photos of you with your nearest & dearest to their Facebook page or catch their road show throughout the UK where you can hop into a photo booth & have your picture uploaded instantly and everyday Professor Beattie will choose a 'picture of the day' & the winner will receive one of 100 prizes worth £100. If you do catch the roadshow you can pick up free NIVEA goodies so worth popping down for if it's near you.

There's also a Feel Closer debate on their Facebook page all about closeness in the 21st century, questions like is friendship the best anti-depressant going? Can a text ever be as rewarding as a face-to-face chat? What about long distance relationships, is physicall proximity essential essential for true closeness?

Personally I couldn't be without my friends and family, my family are incredibly loving no matter what and all in each others lives all the time as for friendships I don't think you have to constantly surround yourselves with people, a select few is enough for me and I know I can call upon them whenever I need for a chat or support and they know that they can do the same when it comes to me, todays technology could render physical relationships non existent but for me they are a bridge to keep us close when geography and time aren't our friend.

Don't you just want to give your loved ones a cuddle now you know they are so important to your health & sanity? (if you didn't already know)

Ellos Leopard Print Wedges (with 50% off code)

Hey Ladies,

So today I got a PR email introducing me to a new online shop called Ellos, I get these kind of emails all the time and normally have a browse on the site & that's about it, today I saw a pair of shoes & just had to create an outfit round them & show you all it!! Hope you like it!!

Click to see all the details of the outfit
Because the wedges aren't too high & a fun fashion piece I thought they'd be perfect for lunch with a friend so created the outfit around that theme, a beautiful oversized cashmere top is so stylish with a long necklace & is effortless matched with a pair of dark skinny jeans. The bag is just a thing of beauty & since it is a roseish beige I thought rose gold jewellery would suit the look so went with the ring, bracelet, necklace  & watch in that metal.

I'd quite happily own & wear this outfit ... just need to find someone to buy it me!

Ok so I wasn't even informed of the discount code I saw it on the site so even more of an excuse to have a browse, you get 50% off & free delivery if you use the code - 4763

Bargain for the shoes I think you'll find! if only the rest was the same!!

Product of The Week!

Hey Ladies,

It's that time of the week again & I didn't do it in video form just because I just decided what I wanted it to be & I am makeup less & have wet hair so not in a video making state! Anyway onto business!!

'Extreme Deep Fuel durable strengthening treatment helps restore very distressed hair back to its natural, healthy state. A durable conditioning agent provides long-term conditioning and repair that lasts up to eight shampoos.
Redken's exclusive Interbond Conditioning System delivers a unique 3D Repair Complex of proteins, ceramide and lipids to help provide internal strength, cuticle reinforcement and protective resurfacing'

Does this work? HELL YES IT DOES! Most hair masks that I personally like are really thick in texture, this is a dark yellow liquid thats fairly thin for such an intense treatment, smells nice and makes your hair incredibly soft afterwards and you only need to leave it in for 5 minutes to see the results.

I recently tried (& Failed) to Ombre my hair, I swear my blondeness will not relent, despite dying it with a semi permanent Nice & Easy by Clairol in dark ash blonde it is pretty much the same (will be buying another tomorrow) anyway despite using a semi permanent one i'm shocked at how damaged my hair feels (not impressed) so I needed some sort of deep conditioner, the Deep Fuel is just amazing at repairing damage and making it feel & look healthy.

Redken is not the cheapest hair care brand but they deliver at really repairing damage & such a great investment for your hair, the anti snap is just amazing!! The Deep Fuel costs around £13 & you can get it here with free shipping!! Definitely worth the investment & the fact that the conditioner lasts for 8 shampoo's is even more of an excuse!!

I hope this is useful for anyone out there & if you want an Ombre tutorial let me know!

FOTD: Easy Red Lip

Hey Ladies,

After a massive allergic reaction on my eyes I've avoided eye makeup for a few days but my eyes feeling a little better today allowed me to put on some mascara but I didn't dare to apply shadow or liner incase it flared it up again so I decided for big lashes and a red lip & thought i'd show you the result!

My hair has actually got deep conditioner in it, hence the expression!

What I'm Wearing:

Face
Mac Face & Body - C3
Dolce & Gabanna Powder Foundation - Soft
Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer - Medium
Sleek Blush - Pan Tao
Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer

Eyes
Make Up Forever Smoky Lash Mascara
ELF Eyebrow Lift & Shape on Brows & Waterline

Lips
Sleek True Colour Lipstick - Stilleto

I think they call that minimal makeup (for me at least) that looks like you've made an instant effort with the red lip but using no effort whatsoever!!

I really love the Sleek true colour lipsticks, I have them in a few shades & they're brilliant quality, they do bold shades like this red & really beautiful everyday shades. I suggest you check them out they are Nicolavc86 approved!!

So tomorrow's Monday ... again, hopefully my eyes will have fully calmed down & I can film a couple of videos, any requests would be appreciated!!
