REVIEW: Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm

Saturday 27 April 2013

Hey Ladies,

My favoured method of makeup removal for the past three years has to be oil based cleansers and to say I got excited when I saw Elemis released their new Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is an underestimate ... I think I actually squealed.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm*

'This powerful treatment cleansing balm dissolves make-up and daily grime. Developed first and foremost for its performance in Elemis treatments, this super-cleansing, luxurious treatment balm is expertly formulated with a 100% active base of natural oils grown within the UK.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm combines precious starflower, elderberry and optimega™ oils with rose and mimosa waxes, and anti-ageing padina pavonica to deeply cleanse, nourish and smooth for a glowing complexion.'
As you would expect from Elemis this is a fantastic product, it removes all my eye makeup as quick as a flash and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.
The texture is a little different from a lot of balm cleansers I have tried before which are usually fairly solid that need be scraped out and then warmed between your fingers before applying to your face, the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is very soft and malleable and melts straight into your skin making it a quick and easy makeup removing option.
The smell is a very spa type smell, four or five years ago I wouldn't have been able to stand it but I think i've grown to appreciate the more herbally smells but it doesn't linger and once you've washed it off with a cloth it's gone. The cloth that is included by the way is really good quality which is always good to see and I've always wanted the Elemis cloth mitt so it is really encouraging me to make the investment.
Price wise it's rrp is £39.50 for 105g however ALWAYS shop around for brands like Elemis as you can get it much cheaper LookFantastic have it for £31.60 currently. Value for money Cleansing Balm's last a long time as you need very little to remove an entire face of makeup so a pot this size will last a good 5 months I'd estimate so even though it is an investment it does last you a long time so totally worth it in my opinion.
One big selling point about the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is that the ingredients are natural oils from good old GREAT Britain and unlike some other cleansing balms (*cough Eve Lom Review here including a mineral oil rant) it contains NO mineral oil.
So well done to Elemis for a very effective cleanser with great ingredients, what are your favourite oil based cleansers? Any questions put them below & i'll get back to you
