Festive Friday: Stocking Fillers

Hey Ladies,

The festive season is officially upon us, I wanted to do some gift guides this year so my first one contains some stocking fillers all below £20.

Diptyque Figuier Mini Candle £20 (Link)
I always swore to myself that I wouldn't spend big money on candles but of course giving them as gifts is totally fine and if I got one as luxurious as Diptyque in my stocking well I would be one happy reindeer on Christmas morning. The Figuier scent is suitable for burning in any room of the house, some people don't really enjoy sweet scented candles and I think this is highly unlikely to scare them off as it's so neutral, warm and inviting.

Bare Minerals READY Eyeshadow 2.0 £16.75 (Link)
These little compacts are perfect for the beauty lover, they're very reasonably priced and there are loads of colour combinations; the one in the picture is called The Top Shelf which is a combination of a golden sand and warm bronze, two shades which will suit so many eye colours. The quality of these shadows are fantastic and I constantly use the one I have as its so compact in my makeup bag; A travellers dream combo.

L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream £19 (Link)
This is my bedside best friend; I reach for it just before bed and I haven't had any dry skin on my hands since the day I started this routine. If you have a gardener in the family or someone who works with their hands this will be a saviour; it is a very neutral smelling so suitable for all sexes and could very well be the most useful thing you could buy someone but still luxurious so they feel treated.

Lipstick Diamante Pens £3 (Link)
What woman doesn't love stationary? Especially diamanté covered lipstick pens. If you're looking for a secret santa gift these would be so cool to receive as a 'bonus' and they would have a nice little reminder every time they use it in the office of their lovely gift.

Essie Set in Stones £7.82 (Link)
Christmas and glitter go together like Santa and mince pies, Essie is my favourite brand of nail polish and Set in Stones is a fantastic edition to nail polish collections as it can transform any polish you layer it over. I guarantee it will be applied before the Turkey is out the oven.

Angel Face Botanicals Acai Berry Bath Salts £11 (Link)
After the hustle and bustle of shopping, the worrying about overcooking the potatoes and partying until you can't feel your feet relaxing baths are what January is made for, these bath salts will relax the body and mind without breaking the bank if you're looking to chill the house out after the madness.

Philosophy Spiced Gingerbread Cookie Shower Gel £12.60 (Link)
This is just meant to be purchased around this time of year whether it's for someone else or yourself. Philosophy shower gels make the whole house smell and I can't think of a warmer more inviting scent than gingerbread all year round let alone just for Christmas and let me tell you these bottles last and last so it's the gift that keeps on giving.

Have you started your shopping yet? I'm more a last minute grabber type consumer (I'd make the best Gypsy boy)

The Big Freeze: Winter Coats from Littlewoods

Hey Ladies,

I recently posted a picture on Instagram of my new winter coat and since I had so many questions online and people actually stopping me in the street asking me where it is from I thought I would create a post around winter coats as the big freeze is about to hit us in the UK. I actually got the coat from Love Label at Littlewoods I think the exposure from Fern Cotton's range drew me to the site and I fell in love with the Love Label Fur Collar Jacket I thought whilst i'm sharing i'd show you some of my favourites from Littlewoods range of Women's Jackets
Superdry Paddington Duffle Coat - £144 (Link)
A great casual coat and being that it is from Superdry it comes with quality that lasts and it's pretty much guaranteed that it will be super warm. Duffel coats will always be stylish and great for all ages so don't be thinking it's only for satchel sporting students it can take years off your appearance and give you a youthful spring in your step throughout a miserable cold day.

Superdry Vintage City Cropped Mac - £144 (Link)
This is a great jacket for the outdoorsy type, I have visions of walking a spaniel through muddy fields with some leggings, a warm jumper, this coat and some wellies on my feet. For those people who want to be warm but not restricted with a longer coat this is perfect and the colour is nice and neutral so it can be paired with some seasonal cranberry shades as well as more bolder options you may have in your wardrobe.

Love Label Fur Collar Jacket - £85 (Link)
I hate to use the words 'on trend' but I can't associate this coat with anything but them; the leather look sleeves, burgundy body and removable fur stole it is the epitome of chic fashionista and looks a hell of a lot more expensive than it actually is and hence why I get stopped in the street and asked where I purchased it from.

Love Label Dolly Fur Collar Coat - £85 (Link)
I love the shape of this coat as its super girly, the mix of the cream and navy means it can be paired with so many different outfits which of course is so important when you choose a winter coat as you'll be most likely be wearing it everyday for 5 months in the UK.

Are you prepared for the coming weather with your winter jacket? Do you like my selection of coats or have purchased from Littlewoods before?

NOTW: Jade Angel at Czaro Salon London

Hey Ladies,

I seem to have a really bad habit once a year of getting nail extensions, I resist them all year and then near my birthday I cave and have them on for a couple of months then January arrives and I swear never to have them done again. Well a few weeks ago I caved; unfortunately after two days of having them two nails snapped clean off whilst putting on my socks as you can imagine I was a little peeved, thankfully I had a nail appointment in London a few days later and the lovely Jade Angel at Czaro salon moved a few appointments around for me so she could apply a new set.

My Nails

The salon is just behind Oxford Street so in a fantastic location if you fancy some pampering whilst in London as it is so conveniently located, the atmosphere is fantastic and I had such a warm welcome which was just infectious. Having had a bit of a bad day being poorly in Central London it was exactly what I needed and everyone was so lovely and interactive both the staff and fellow clients. The lady before me had the most amazing nail art done by Jade (The gold leopard print above) and Jade very kindly recreated it on my ring fingers to go with my black manicure (Liquorice by Essie).

As for the extensions they were perfectly done, I usually ask for them longer than I actually want so I can file them down to my taste at home (anyone else do this?) but I took a chance and let Jade do her thing as she expressed extensions were her passion and I'm happy to say her experience in the field really shone through and I loved the end results from the shape, length to the actual manicure and care at which she applied the polish and held me hostage until they were thoroughly dry.

I very much recommend the salon if you're looking for a treatment in central London at very reasonable prices. It was a pleasure to visit and it is lovely when you meet someone who loves what they do for a living and puts you at complete ease, the salon has a 5 star rating on Wahanda (Link) and they have their website if you want to see what services are on offer and a price list (Link).

Alexa for Eyeko Eye Do Duo

Hey Ladies,

If I was to describe my signature makeup look it would go something like this; Light sparkly eyeshadow, black flicked linker and bold lipstick. I love this look day or night and so the Alexa Chung Eyeko collaboration was always bound to be a hit with me as I've never seen a picture of her where she hasn't got eyeliner on.
Alexa for Eyeko Eye Do Duo*

The kit contains Eyeko's Lengthening and Strengthening Mascara and their Waterproof Liquid Liner (and a random poster and guitar pick).

The Mascara is described as 'An oversized brush with uneven bristles in carbon-black, designed to maximise volume without any clumpiness.' I have to agree on all fronts; it is a brilliant mascara and lengthens them fantastically and holds a curl nicely.

The waterproof 'Eye Do' eyeliner is 'Glossy black with a felt-tip nib which lends itself to bold sharp lines' I love felt tip liners as they're so quick and easy to use compared to gel and liquid meaning they are so practical for everyday use and the longevity of this liner is brilliant perfect again for use everyday at work.

I am very impressed with this kit and it would make a great gift for someone who loves the eyeliner and big lashes look or wants to get the look right as felt tip liners are perfect for beginners. The kit is exclusive to Selfridges (Link) for £35.00.

Have you tried any of the new Eyeko products? I used to love their nail polishes!

DEAL ALERT: Boots Star Gift: Soap & Glory Girl-O-Whirl Kit for £19

Hey Ladies,

Every year in the run up to Christmas a Soap and Glory kit features as a Boots Star Gift meaning the price is slashed and of course meaning it sells out pretty quickly. When I saw the press release in my inbox I thought i'd share so you're all prepared to snatch one for yourselves or as a potential Christmas gift before it's sold out.
The previous Star Gifts were all body care sets but this year due to the popularity of the cosmetic line the Star Gift is a makeup kit.

The Girl-O-Whirl set contains;

  • Six Flawless-Finish Lidstuff Eyeshadows
  • Six Super-Colour Fabulipsticks
  • A Thick & Fast Mascara (one of my favourites)
  • A Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Nudist (Have all the shades & they're amazing)
  • A Glow All Out Instant Luminising Face Powder (Amazing stuff)
  • A Solar Powder Multi-Shade Shimmering Bronzer
  • Three Brushes and the Carry case
For one week starting 15th November you can get all this for £19.00 (Link) reduced from £40. I think you'll all agree TOTAL bargain.

Have you tried any of the Soap & Glory cosmetics line? What did you think, any favourites? I seriously love the Thick and Fast Mascara and the Mother Pucker Gloss Sticks and the price of them two products pretty much totals the kit.

REVIEW: REN Rosa Centifolia No.1 Purity Cleanser

Hey Ladies,

Another cleansing balm review for you today and this time by REN Skincare.
REN Rosa Centifolia No.1 Purity Cleansing Balm*
A luxurious silky rose infused cleansing balm. When applied with water the balm transforms into a rich milk and leaves skin purified, calm and glowing. It gently yet thoroughly melts away dirt and make up (including waterproof mascara).

As you probably can tell from previous reviews I love REN products, their new Rosa Centifolia range is a collection of cleansers with 100% natural Rose Extract Complex which supposedly tones, softens and soothes the skin available in a range of formulas to suit everyone's needs.

I of course had to try the balm cleanser in the range, firstly this is seriously thick; if you leave it in a cold room it's your nightly work out to get it out the tube however in a normally heated room it isn't too much of a challenge.

Initially when I removed my eye makeup with it I found that it stung and was gutted however after a couple of days I realised it could have been the new mascara I was testing out at the same time, when I went to remove a different mascara I didn't have the stinging so if you find a cleanser does this it might be worth trying with a different mascara.

This is a rich cleansing balm which is lovely for this time of the year as it just melts your makeup off and with a hot cloth it's like having a mini facial every night as it leaves your skin clean as a whistle and nicely nourished.

I think it's very reasonably priced at £23 (Link) for 100mls and it contains no nasties like mineral oil (my arch nemisis), sulphates, parabens or synthetic fragrance.

Seriously if you're not on the cleansing balm band wagon what are you doing with your lives, it makes taking your makeup off a doddle plus your eyelashes get conditioned and get longer without spending £90 on a treatment serum which changes your eye colour!
