Mani Monday: IBD Just Gel Polish in Infinitely Curious

IBD Just Gel Infinitely Curious
I don't think i've ever owned a neon nail polish before, I am usually all about the creamy pastels; that all came crashing down when I saw a Red Carpet Manicure shade in a gorgeous neon orangey red. Typically the shade is no longer available so I took to google and discovered this gem.

Boy is it neon and you know what? I bloody well love it; I applied it over a coat of white gel saving me about 100 coats to get it this eye poppingly neon.

I cannot wait to make a custom colour by adding a bit of red into this to see if I can emulate some of my favourite lipsticks and get all matchy matchy; in the mean time I will look down upon my nails with some shades on and I couldn't be happier.

REVIEW: Clarisonic Aria

Clarisonic Aria*
'Clarisonic Aria Pink. Sleek and modern, Aria offers the best of form and function for clean, beautiful looking skin. Clarisonic`s patented sonic technology gently yet thoroughly removes impurities, cleansing 6x better than manual cleansing alone'

The new addition to the Clarisonic range bridges the gap between the Clarisonic original and Clarisonic Mia, it's the size of the Mia with a few additional features which are present on the original;

- Three speed options.
- T-Timer which prompts when to move on to the next area based on Clarisonic's recommendations of 20 seconds on the forehead, 20 seconds on the nose and chin and 10 seconds per cheek.
- Automatic shut off after the cleansing cycle.
- Drying stand.

Firstly the drying stand is a brilliant addition as it can just sit in your bedroom or bathroom on charge when not in use so you'll never have to go through the bitter disappointment of it running out of charge half way through a cleanse also the option to charge via USB is a great feature for regular travellers; big thumbs up.

I personally use the speed settings for cleansing different areas of my body, I find the slowest setting enough for my face even with the sensitive brush head that comes with the model; the medium setting I use for my neck and chest with a regular brush and I use the high setting on my back again with a regular brush head as the body brush made by Clarisonic is only compatible with the full size model. The addition of the beeping and auto shut off is very useful as it stops you going overboard on the cleansing as you tend to lose track of how long you're cleansing when you're in the shower.

I have found that using the Clarisonic Aria three times a week my skin has become softer, smoother and brighter in appearance and there has been a big difference in the congestion around my nose and chin areas. Another benefit of using the Clarisonic is that you use less of the cleanser you pair with it as it makes cleansing five times more efficient than if you manually cleansed your skin.

You can over do it with the cleansing so I would recommend introducing it daily to begin with until your skin adapts to it, there are brushes designed to suit different skin types - sensitive, normal, deep cleansing and acne brush heads so something to suit everyone.

You can purchase Clarisonic Aria's from Debenhams (Link) for £155

REVIEW: Aésop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque

Aésop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque
'A gentle yet thorough deep-cleansing treatment that extracts impurities clogging the pores, to smooth and refresh the skin.'

I wanted to try this Aésop masque for the longest time; the YouTuber's were singing it's praises and whilst I don't always trust all of them the mass agreement that this was excellent pulled me in and it was ordered.

Although a clay masque it isn't the traditional clay masque you might expect, the texture is very thin and spreads very easily and therefore you don't end up using loads as you only need a thin layer; considering this costs nearly £30 the fact a little goes a long way is a very good feature.

It applies a light beige colour and once it's dry it goes a dark grey and shows all your pores which is always a joy to see; it mildly stings on your face which to me makes me think it's working.

When removed you can see an immediate difference in your skin, it's brighter, smoother and softer and I can always rely on it if my skin is having a break out to clear it up nice and quickly.

I will always have this in my skincare stash for when my skin is looking dull and in need of a pick me up; you can pick it up at Cult Beauty for £27 (Link)

Let's Go To The Beach

It's getting that time of year where we've all dusted off the gym equipment, ditched the carbs and donned our 'bikini body' mindset; those of us with a larger bust can struggle with our beach wear so I wanted to share the bikini's I've chosen for when I go away in June.

Freya Nambassa Bandeau £35 (Link) & Nambassa Briefs £25 (Link)
I love the combination of red and purple in this bikini and it provides fantastic support even when you don't tie it around your neck.

Panache Tallulah Bandeau £34 (Link) & Tallulah High Waisted Briefs £23 (Link)
As soon as I saw this feather print bikini I bought it, the sweetheart shape is very flattering and it has removable straps if you want avoid those pesky tan lines, those of us with slightly more bulge than perhaps ideal will look fantastic in the high waisted briefs.

Miss Mandalay Aruba Bikini £19 (Link)
One of the main colours of the season is mint green and this polka dot version is the closest that us big boobed gals will come to a triangle bikini.

For the accessories just click on the picture and it will take you to all the links!

Birchbox: April 2014

Initially I was quite sceptical about the Beauty Box sample boxes but I have to say I quite enjoy the monthly surprise of what you get, of course some months are better than others but overall they are fairly consistent.

April's Birchbox I have to say did surpass itself and a little squeal was let out when I saw the contents; this month box is titled 'Good Enough To Eat' and contains:

Laura Mercier Ambre Vanillé Body Soufflé - I have the candle of this scent and believe me it smells good enough so the body soufflé is a definite bonus.

TheBalm Cosmetics How About Them Apples Cheek & Lip Cream - I have never tried anything from TheBalm and have heard great things so am looking forward to trying this.

Color Club Gala Gems Nail Polish - This is an amazing soft rose gold nail polish one I can't wait to apply, I love Color Club nail polishes and it looks like they've rebranded so hopefully the formulation hasn't changed.

Lord and Berry Couture Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil - Any makeup staple in a miniature size is welcome in my travel makeup bag so loved seeing this.

Yes To Cucumbers Facial Wipes - I haven't tried anything from the Yes To line before and although I am not a fan of face wipes I did need some for my holiday to take on the plane; Birchbox just saved me a lot of googling.

Lifestyle Extra: Propercorn Sweet Coconut & Vanilla - I have thus far resisted eating this, I'm a huge popcorn fan and with my healthy eating regime (am blogging about it soon) it fits in very nicely so I will be opening this on the bank holiday for an extra treat.

I think you'd agree that this month's Birchbox is top notch; I save all my sample sizes for travel and nights away so subscription boxes are really useful if you do travel a lot and want to explore new brands.

Mani Monday: Red Carpet Manicure Blushful Moments

Red Carpet Manicure - Blushful Moments
I am finally having a holiday this year so in my excitement I had to order a new gel polish of course which will look great whilst i'm tanned, I saw this whilst browsing at Harvey Nichols in Birmingham and couldn't resist. (I never buy beauty items in actual stores, always order online as there's always discount codes floating around!)

Blushful Moments by Red Carpet Manicure is described as a 'bright coral pink with a glossy crème finish' I have to say this is a spot on description, there's a slight golden shimmer running through it but unless you really study your nails you don't notice it. It's a slightly more pastel shade than my picture, I invest money in a DSLR camera and my iPhone takes a better picture of the shade than the camera can ... Typical.

I'm a huge Red Carpet Manicure fan and have yet to find a gel brand that lasts longer on my nails than these do; for my original review of the system - (Link), you can purchase the system and Blushful Moments from BeautyBay (Link)

What is your go-to holiday manicure shade?

REVIEW: Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in 04 Peach Club*
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in 03 Hot Pepper
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick 01 Personne Ne Rouge! *
Bourjois' NEW Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick range gives your lips bold, matte and longlasting colour with 24hr hold.

You must know by now that I love me a liquid lipstick, I would go as far to say I prefer them to actual lipsticks and seeing them filter down from the high end market to the more purse friendly brands pleases me no end.

Bourjois' release of their Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks couldn't come sooner as the ones I've thus far tried from lower priced brands haven't been too impressive however I was promised by a fellow Blogger Farah (Link) they were good and she never lets me down.

I want to shout from the roof tops how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE frigging chigging LOVE these lip products; they apply beautifully, they are relatively inexpensive and last so well on the lips.

The 24 hour claim is totally bogus of course unless the test subject went without food, drink or talking for the day (poor cow) and why anyone would want a lippy to last 24 hours is beyond me either way they last a good amount of time, through coffee's and lunch and fade really nicely and unlike some other very pricey lip lacquer's they don't get this weird crumbly texture in the centre after a few hours of nattering with a coffee.

The reason these are totes amazeballs (to quote my managing director's phrase of the day) is because they are beyond featherweight, when they set to a lovely velvet look they don't feel like you have anything on the lips whatsoever whereas other liquid lipsticks when they dry feel tight on your lips. Another reason these are the fashizzle is that you can reapply this without it looking like shit for lack of a better word; I've tried lip lacquers which were nearly triple the price and you could do one quick swipe and then nothing else if it faded then you had to remove the whole thing and start again with these bad boys you don't.

My only negatives are that you might be better off with a lip liner underneath the more bolder shades to achieve a nice sharp lip line as they can be a little tricky to make neat and tidy with a doe foot applicator and the other is the shade range isn't comprised of 79 different shades of slightly different orangey/red hues but I can't hold that against them.

I have Peach Club (Lovely pinky peach standard day time shade, I enjoy patting it into my lips for a hint of colour), Hot Pepper (Amazing orangey red, I am loyal to this for life as a day time bold lip as it's so easy to reapply and always looks lovely) and Personne De Rouge (a deeper warm red, gorgeous for nighttime).

They are available now from Boots (Link) for £8.99 each and I couldn't recommend them enough.
