WISH LIST: Birthday 2014

You may not know but I really don't like receiving gifts in fact I hate my Birthday entirely, I know you might think that's the weirdest thing ever but I just get so uncomfortable at the whole process that I avoid it as much as possible. I do of course have friends who constantly ask me what I want as I have been told by everyone how much of a pain in the arse I am to buy a present for; Hence my Birthday Wish List has been created and I thought i'd share it on my blog in case anyone wants reviews etc (BTW I am likely to just buy them all myself because some of these are a bit pricey for Birthday gifts).

Laura Mercier Custom Artist Portfolio £65.00 (Link)
I tend to travel a lot and I think this would be the perfect travel buddy for me as it can hold a serious amount of makeup and skincare without adding too much bulk as it's nice and compact and is an organisational freaks (i.e. me) dream as there are four separate compartments which connect magnetically and a brush roll. Also lets face it I would look like a total boss with it!

Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze & Glow Palette £49.00 (Link)
I have been dying to get my hands on this since it launched as it is just luxury personified with the rose gold packaging so it would make the most amazing Birthday/Christmas gift! It contains a bronzer which looks more on the cool side so it makes an excellent contour and there is also a highlighter to add a lovely glow to your face since i'm getting more into face sculpting I think this would be an excellent addition to my collection.

Charlotte Tilbury Powder & Sculpt Brush £35.00 (Link)
Of course I can't get the palette without the brush and whilst I am not one for really pricey brushes as I think you can get great brushes on a budget these days this is a little bit special with the rose gold ferrule and the fact the side of the brush is flat means they don't roll which is genius! (simple things but brushes rolling off surfaces after washing is a major annoyance)

Charlotte Tilbury Kissing Lipstick in Nude Kate £23.00 (Link)
I actually don't own that many nude lipsticks and need one for everyday use, i'd feel so swish getting this out my handbag to reapply during the day. I love that this is the colour inspired by Kate Moss and as much as I would love the shade Bitch Perfect I don't think it would suit my skin tone as much as the Nude Kate but I will check when I'm at the counter in a couple of weeks.

NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Himalia £21.00 (Link)
Yes I know another bronze eyeshadow something I own many of but I want to try out the texture of these new eyeshadows and a bronze shade is the one I would use the most so may as well add to my collection because I know it will get used.

Diptique Ambre Candle £55.00 (Link)
This smells amazing, it's pretty much my favourite candle scent of all time but I can never quite bring myself to spend the money on it however I would happily have it as a gift if anyone else could!

Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt Cologne £40.00 for 30ml (Link)
When I heard bloggers rage about this scent I just thought they all had a bit of Jo Malone hysteria because why would anyone want to smell like salt?? I had a smell of it on my last trip to Selfridges and I have to say I loved it, it's obviously very unique; it's so fresh and clean smelling without being sterile smelling at the same time. I would definitely love a bottle of this to contrast with my usual Tom Ford Black Orchid as it isn't always office appropriate to drench oneself in whereas the Jo Malone I don't think would offend anyones noses.

what's on your current wish list?

My Little Box by Diane Von Furstenberg

For the past few months I have been receiving a subscription box in the post once a month and I have to say they're the ones I look forward to most, unfortunately until recently they haven't been available in the UK and now that they are let me introduce you to ... My Little Box and what an introduction you're going to get this month.

My little box are a French company who send out subscription beauty and lifestyle boxes which include beauty (including their own beauty range), fashion and lifestyle accessories as well as illustrated bits and bobs (I have the best laptop sleeve from a previous box and the cutest notepad).

This month is seriously good as it's a Diane Von Furstenberg box which includes a Kerastase small hairspray which is great for the handbag, a micellar water which i'm a huge fan of for my morning cleansing and a lovely little lipstick broach. Of course the Pièce de résistance is the Diane Von Furstenberg scarf, it's so vivid and feels such good quality and I can tell you now is definitely worth the subscription price and so much more! I will treasure it as it's been made especially for the My Little Box and not many people will own it.

I am a huge fan of the company and I am yet to get a box that I don't love, you can subscribe here (Link) and it is £11 a month plus p&p which is definitely worth the contents!

REVIEW: Jam Transit Wireless Headphones

Jam Transit Bluetooth Headphones £59.99 (Link

One thing you should know about me is that I LOVE technology, my mokier at work is 'Gadget Girl' and definitely live up to my reputation, I was offered the chance from Jam Headphones to 'Go Wireless' and I was certainly ready for the challenge because my biggest pet peeve in life getting my headphone wire caught on something and then being ripped out of my ears!

The Jam Transit Bluetooth Headphones are so comfortable when you wear them for prolonged periods as you practically can't feel them as they're so lightweight which is a lovely change from my usual headphones which give me the worst earache ever. I am really impressed with the overall design as they sit so snugly and there are controls are on the headphones too so you don't have to keep reaching in your pocket for your device to skip a track/pause etc which is a massive thumbs up from me.

A great feature is that you can also make phone calls as they have a integrated microphone (you don’t have the whole gamer pull down mic at side) the quality isn't compromised whatsoever so the person you're taking to can't hear any background noise and you sound crystal clear.

Probably the most important feature of course is the sound quality which I am happy to report is fantastic especially if you like your music with a bit of base which always seem so crap in the inner-ear headphones, they also do an excellent job of cancelling out surrounding noise and work both ways so if you're listening to something a little shameful the person next to you on the train can't hear your walk down memory lane with Bewitched, Steps, Peter Andre etc.

I love the overall ease of use with the Jam Transit headphones; it's so easy to pair with devices and takes seconds whether it be your iPhone, iMac or iPad (tested thoroughly in my Apple world as well as with a windows phone), you just have to push the play/pause button for a few seconds and it pairs with your bluetooth device and it's as easy as that!

I am a serious convert to wireless headphones now, I am amazed by how much better it is to have them; even when I'm listening to music at home to not be attached to a device makes it so much more enjoyable. If I'm cleaning these go straight on and I'm happy to dance around whilst looking like an idiot and do my dusting they make the task so much more enjoyable.

These would be a great gift for … dare I say it … oh hell I'm going to … CHRISTMAS for someone who commutes or travels a lot and they'll always be with me on my trips and I have to say although they might be slightly large they would be great for kids to use if you're constantly worried (like me) about wires strangling them plus you put a kid on an iPad with wireless headphones and you have yourself a peaceful afternoon! Worth every penny!

REVIEW: NUXE Merveillance Range

You know I love me some skincare and It's probably the element of beauty blogging which gets me the most excited; I always preach 'there's no point spending lots of money on makeup if you don't look after your skin' so when I receive a whole skin care collection to try out it makes me more excited than a kid at Christmas.

The Nuxe Merveillance Expert range released last month is designed to reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles and plump up the skin, now I might only be 28 so no major wrinkles but I sure could do with the plumping so was happy to give this collection a test run and thought I'd share my top picks.

Merveillance Expert Serum rrp £39.00 (£26 at Feel Unique (Link))
This is a lovely serum to use as it so light and easily absorbs into the skin so perfect during the day under makeup. The serum has a tightening effect which lasts up to 8 hours so again great for the day time and I can really feel this effect working and my face looks a bit skinner for the day! Longer term effects have seen my skin tone looking brighter, more even and any dark patches on my skin where I have had blemishes faded really well so I can see this being fantastic to lighten dark spots.

Merveillance Expert Eye Contour Cream rrp £29.00 (£19.31 at LookFantastic (Link))
My eye area is definitely the problem area on my face, my dark circles are pretty horrendous no matter how much sleep I get or how much water I drink and I tend to get very dry under my eyes too so eye creams are an essential part of my routine. The Nuxe eye cream manages to hydrate without being greasy or heavy and because everything is so hydrated your eye area looks smoother and plumper (without looking puffy of course) and I have noticed how much brighter it appears without the cream having any optical brighteners in the formula.

Mervelliance Expert Night Cream rrp £38.00 (£25.31 at LookFantastic (Link))
When the weather transitions from Summer to Autumn my skin tends to get really dry all of a sudden so this cream has been serving me well. it's described on the pot as a Regenerating cream and I totally agree; it’s a very thick luxurious cream but isn't at all greasy so doesn't sit on the skin it absorbs very quickly and when you wake up in the morning your skin looks plump, feels as soft as silk and your makeup glides on.

I think this range is fantastic for those with aging skin and particularly if you have more oily skin as the formulations are really great at hydrating without being heavy or greasy, also the actual products smell so nice they're a joy to apply. Price wise I think the range is really reasonable for effective anti aging skin care and so if you don't want to pay ridiculous amounts on your skincare routine I really recommend the Nuxe Merveillance Expert range.

RMK Power of Love Makeover

Last month I popped down to the RMK counter in Selfridges Manchester to learn about the new collection and have my makeup done using the new products. If you have read my blog for a while you'll know my love for the skin care and makeup from RMK and I think Lucy who did my makeup was quite surprised when I was reeling off the list of products I use from the brand as most people haven't heard much about it.

I had a good hour of makeup removing, moisturising, priming, makeup-ing and learnt about all the new range and products in their existing line (my shopping list has expanded quite a bit!) and I took away some of the products and my face chart so thought I'd try and recreate the look at home.

The new reformulated Creamy Foundation (Link) was applied and the finish of it is lovely for the coming months as it has a lovely glow to it and as skin tends to be more dry in the winter you can get away with a bit more shine than the summer, like the original it is incredibly light on the skin but the coverage is lovely and is definitely buildable in the areas you might need it.

Lucy then started work on my eyes with the new Matte Shiny Eyes (Link) in the Bronze shade, this duo crayon and shadow is seriously great for your makeup bag and I've used mine everyday since I got it as it's so quick and easy. I apply the crayon side up to my crease then blend with my finger as it's so effortless and I use the shadow side patted over the crayon. The effect is lovely bronzed eyes which are so sparkly and definitely (dare I say it) one for the Christmas party paired with a black winged liner, the lasting power is excellent as well so great for everyday use I think I might get another colour too because they're just such an easy option.

A good lashing of mascara is always needed when there's no liquid liner involved in an eye look and the new Matte mascara (Link) doesn't disappoint, it is like mega lashes, long and volumised in a jiffy and the brown shade RMK offer I love as it brings such warmth to the eyes.

The final touch was the stunning Matte Shiny Cheeks Power (Link) of Love blushes, there are four to choose from and of course I chose the peach, I took home the Natural Bronze shade and it adds such a gorgeous warm sheen to your cheeks nothing sparkly or glittery just a gorgeous warm glow which finishes the look perfectly.

I had such a fun time getting made up and all the girls were super lovely and knowledgeable about their products and even on my face chart my hair was shaded pink which I thought was a lovely touch, if you're around Manchester I really suggest you pop in for some pampering because they're such good fun to be around and the products are fantastic. The new Power of Love products are lovely introductions into your makeup collection and I haven't put mine down since I got them.
