My Skin Saviour, Lucas Papaw Ointment Review

Sunday 18 April 2010

Hey Ladies,

I've been meaning to do this review for ages! As per usual more shiny items get in the way but I decided today is the day (mainly because I've just applied some to my face).

Basically due to my boyfriends very prickly stubble I get rashes all round my mouth & chin when we ... well you know ... kiss.

I was at my wits end with it, it looks horrible & I'd had enough & when the opportunity to try something that could heal it I jumped at the chance!

So what is it?
Essentially it is an antiseptic ointment with the texture of Vaseline & smell of vanilla.

It has been produced by Lucas Remedies for over 80 years, Dr Lucas stated in his 1906 Handbook that he believed that the papaw was the finest antiseptic yet discovered. Of the thousands of specimens that he studied, he devoted special study to the Papaw Tree.

The Papaw Ointment can be used as a local topical application on the following:
  • Abscesses - Boils, Bruises, Burns, Carbuncles, Chafing
  • Cuts - Cysts, Dry & Cracked skin on hands & feet
  • Gravel rash - Heat rash, Insect stings, Mosquito and other bites
  • Open wounds - Pimples, Scalds, Scars, Sunburn
  • Swelling associated with injury - Splinters & thorns.
  • Nappy Rash, Eczema, Psoriasis
Does it work?
Yes! It is seriously amazing, I had tried everything on my rash & although nappy rash cream did help to sooth it, it didn't get rid of it. Within 4 days of using this my rash was gone!

I really was amazed, yes its not the most attractive thing to put on your face but it sure does work! I used it at bed time after cleansing & before applying my moisturiser.

Not only is it brilliant on these conditions, I use it as a lip balm as well & it is brilliant for that as well. I think its a great all round product that every woman should have in their home/handbag in case of emergency eg. cracked heels, lips, rashes, spots etc!

Its available in the travel tubes (shown above) for £3.65, 75g for £8.99 & 200g pots for £19.49 from here.

Seriously adore this product & the company who sell it, they're so friendly!! A definite Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream dupe without the horrible smell & so cheap!!

Thanks for reading & hope you're having a lovely day!!
